Lessons in Love quilt

I have called this new quilt Lessons in Love because it has lots to teach about love and quilting.I started the quilt after a rare fight with my husband.  It was good to ponder the advice I was embroidering.  Each block has a piece of advice, mostly from the Bible and some from life and the book The Five Love Languages such as serve one another, pray, give hugs, submit to one another etc.  These pieces of advice were hand embroidered while I was doing other things like watching TV or riding in the car.  This is like life in that these are things we need to do for each other while life is happening.   

The quilting is a new method for me called quilt as you go.  Each square is made separately and quilted then sewn together.  It takes practice and there are many mistakes just like love in real life.  In one square the tension was wrong and the blue background thread showed up too much on the front. But just like in real life you can't always take back what has happened.  You just hav to live with it and learn from the mistakes.   This happens in marriage sometimes too when too much of "self" shows through. The pink and blue hearts represent man and woman and their differences.  Together their contrasts make a pretty picture.
