Our anniversary/birthday trip to Yachats
We enjoyed a lovely trip to the beach. We were pleasantly surprised with no rain on Saturday and Sunday until about 1:30. We had some lovely walks on the rocks and paths although the surf was always too high to get on the actual beach. We hiked around trails at Cape Pertetua and hiked 2.2 miles to see a giant Sitka Spruce. We had dinner Saturday night at Florence, brunch
Sunday at the Adobe in Yachats, saw the aquarium in Newport when the rain started Sunday and watched the storm safe in our room Sunday night. Monday we passed many toppled trees mostly between Yachats and Newport. We were glad to arrive safe at home about 4:30 Monday in time to get ready for home group.

Family and fun overcome disappointment
As we gathered on Saturday to celebrate birthdays we toiled to make homemade ice cream. Everyone took a turn or was involved in some way. It took a lot longer than we remembered! At last it was ready for a taste.... It certainly has a strong flavor said Gloria. Alas a tiny hole in the canister had allowed salt to permeate the ice cream making it inedible. However we were able to laugh it off and dig out some ice cream from the freezer and still enjoy hot fudge sundaes. I was proud of our mature attitudes. What a great family. We will try again. We also enjoyed a good game of Scattagories. As you can see by the pictures we all ended up smiling.
